2002 Wythe Medallion winner's nomination essays

Nomination for Mark Winston Stagg - Intermediate Division

Winston displays the qualities of integrity, intelligence, and inspiration in many ways. His intelligence and creativity are seemingly endless, and although he is a leader in our group, he makes each member feel important and wanted. Winston keeps us focused and inspires us when we're "stuck" or frustrated. It seems that every day he brings in research about the topic and is eager to share with the team. Over the past two years, Winston has proven time and time again to be an outstanding and valuable teammate as well as a great friend. Mark Winston Stagg certainly deserves this award.

Nominated by student Rohman and endorsed by coach Joanne Stanley, Manchester Middle School, Chesterfield County.

Nomination for Robert Joseph Corvin - Senior Division

In the course of our experience as an FPS team, it is evident that Robert Corvin has exemplified the qualities that made George Wythe a model individual. Intuitive, dedicated, and tolerant, Robert is a cornerstone member making our team a successful competitor. Robert continuously contributes creative and insightful thinking and is always considerate and respectful of others. He holds an infinite love of learning and consistently works to enlighten others. Especially noteworthy at last year's state bowl, Robert highlighted the positive qualities of others' ideas and helped to refine them to near perfection. Without Robert, our team would be at a detrimental loss.

Nominated by student Wolchko and endorsed by coach Farimae Tate, Arts & Sciences Program, Norfolk.
